Ihre Herausforderung
At Copacol’s Central Laboratory, raw data recording and calculations were once done by hand—a tedious process prone to transcription errors and delays. Manual data handling not only slowed operations but also increased the risk of mistakes, often requiring time-consuming reviews and rework before delivering results to clients.
Pursuing accreditation under the NBR ISO/IEC 17025 standard, Copacol faced the challenge of maintaining analytical quality while accelerating turnaround times. To meet rigorous audit and internal control requirements, the lab needed precise, traceable, and easily accessible records—demands that manual methods struggled to satisfy.
Physical documentation and handwritten calculations hampered operational efficiency, making it difficult to track performance metrics and ensure traceability. Scattered paper records created bottlenecks, delayed responses to customer inquiries, and complicated audits, highlighting the urgent need for a more streamlined and reliable approach.

Unsere Lösung
Based on recommendations from other companies that already used the system, Copacol opted for the implementation of myLIMS. "We started the implementation in August 2016; we did the entire validation process and in January 2017 the official use of the system began. The process took place in the estimated time, and we had all the necessary support for the process to be as fast as possible" says Karlize Smith, Central Laboratory Supervisor.
The adoption of myLIMS transformed the operation of the laboratory, eliminating the need for manual records and integrating all information into one digital system. Automation has brought agility, accuracy, and safety to the laboratory analysis process, in addition to facilitating adherence to the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard, essential to ensure the reliability of results and traceability of information.
Since implementing myLIMS, Copacol has seen significant improvements in laboratory performance, including:
- User-friendly and intuitive interface: the myLIMS system is easy to use, which has made it easier for the team to adapt to and allowed for more efficient management of processes.
- Compliance with the NBR ISO/IEC 17025 standard: Automating records and organizing data ensured compliance with the standard, delivering greater security and reliability in analyses.
- Reduction in paper use: there was a 60% reduction in the use of paper throughout the laboratory, with emphasis on a 90% reduction in the Microbiology Department and 30% in the Physical-chemical Department.
- Improvement in the delivery of results: Copacol improved on-time delivery of results by 90%, boosting partner satisfaction and trust.
- Agility in the management of indicators: myLIMS provided a more effective management of the laboratory's performance indicators, facilitating the monitoring and analysis of data in real time.
- Ease of traceability: the system allowed quick and accurate access to all information from the analyses, improving traceability and management of all laboratory activities.
