Formed by Coca-Cola Brazil and its regional manufacturers, Leão Alimentos e Bebidas is responsible for managing the entire production chain of the national line of still drinks, teas and energy drinks in Coca-Cola's portfolio in the country.
The company operates in the segments of nectars, juices, mixed drinks, energy drinks, isotonics, chocolate milk, dry, soluble and ready-to-drink teas, which integrate products from the brands Del Valle Mais, Del Valle Kapo, Del Valle Frut, Del Valle for Mc Donald's, Homemade Orange, Burn, Powerade, I9, Matte Leão, Chá Leão, Leão Ice Tea, Chimarrão Pampas and Guaraná Power.
Currently with manufacturing units located in the cities of Linhares (ES), Americana (SP), Fazenda Rio Grande (PR), Fernandes Pinheiro (PR) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Leão innovates and continuously improves the quality of its products, employing the best production practices and following strict quality standards. Leão recognized the need to implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) to enhance quality and efficiency. However, before leveraging SPC, it became clear that a robust, reliable foundation for compiling laboratory data—from raw material analysis to process checkpoints and finished product results—was essential.
To address this, Leão sought out advanced laboratory software that could centralize and manage all of its laboratory information. This solution would not only ensure data integrity but also empower the team to perform SPC quickly and confidently, streamlining operations and supporting continuous improvement.

After evaluating several options, the company chose myLIMS as the ideal solution for the laboratory’s needs. myLIMS stood out for its intuitive interface, comprehensive automation, robust laboratory management features, and integrated statistical control tools—delivering exactly what the team required.

The initial phase of the project lasted 5 months and focused on eliminating paper and calculators from the laboratory. Analysts began entering raw data directly into the system, while the software seamlessly handled calculations and data management. This streamlined approach allowed analysts to concentrate on interpreting results, ensuring greater accuracy and reliability in every outcome.
Also, in the first phase, the myLIMS KPI (Key Performance Indicator) module was implemented to control the laboratory's performance indicators, such as: liquid content, monitoring of physical-chemical and microbiological parameters, among others.
Leão then implemented additional modules, including Equipment, Inputs, Analytical Quality Control, and SPC, completing this phase in just 3 months. This enabled the laboratory to meet its initial goals, boost productivity, and achieve more reliable results.
Additionally, it was possible to manage the laboratory efficiently while complying with NBR ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. Achieving accreditation for the Quality Control laboratory remains a key objective. There was also a reduction of approximately 40% in the time to record the results.
